Direct democracy is more than mere populism, it is the expression of the will of the people which is not facilitated by their elected members.

Australian’s deserve better than two; two ideas, two parties, one argument and too few choices.

Direct Democracy used responsibly would allow Australian’s to submit well researched thought out legislation to their peers for consideration. Achieve sufficient signatures and support, then put it to the nation.

The duopoly that currently exists in our political system smothers ideas and creative thinking. Australian’s are some of the most inventive people in the world but are restricted from applying our talents to public policy.

Politicians will no doubt scoff at the idea of ordinary Australian’s legislating in their own country.

More importantly Direct Democracy enables wider debate, circumvents established power and means ordinary Australians’ can raise issues important to them but ignored by our elected members.

Direct Democracy aims to benefit all rather than the privileged few.
